What’s up with ReQtest dev team

As usual, our dev team here in Stockholm is busy and up to its proverbial neck in code. Here is a quick update of what the team is currently doing when it comes to development.

There are two major areas the ReQtest team is currently focusing on:

WYSIWYG

Our frontend team is currently focused on improving the way forms are customized in ReQtest. By ‘forms’ we mean bug reports, requirements, test cases and essentially anything that you can find under Settings -> Field Settings.

By customizing forms users can add and remove fields, reorder fields, fill drop-down fields with values and decide which fields are mandatory and which are not.

Although ReQtest has always offered the possibility to customize forms, the current solution of is not as user-friendly as wanted it to be. Since customizing forms is pretty much the first thing most users try out during their evaluation, it is really important that this area works smoothly, as it greatly contributes to the overall impression.

At the end of the day, we want to make it easier for new customers to get started using ReQtest. At the same time this improvement comes in handy and useful for all customers, since it makes it easier to start new projects.

During our last sprint we came up with four different solution proposals that will make the form customization process easier. These solutions have been prototyped and usability tested in order to improve the proposals and to find the best one. You can see some pics of the usability testing we carried out below. We will probably be working on this redesign of forms for the rest of the year and we promise that you’ll see an awesome difference when we’re done with it!

And in the code preparation area….

Meanwhile, our backend team is working on a solution that is going to make it possible to connect ReQtest to other tools, thus making ReQtest a whole lot more developer friendly and scaleable within customers’ organizations. We can’t really say much more than that at the moment as everything is under wraps and there are a few months of work ahead, but be prepared for a much more highly connected ReQtest very soon!

Besides from the above, we are always continuously working on fixing bugs. The overall feedback from customers after having released the new admin role has been very positive and we also got some suggestions for further improvement.
