Information regarding ReQtest server outage
Last night, our hosting provider Ipeer was performing an upgrade of the severs where ReQtest is hosted. The upgrade was considered a low risk patch that could be performed without any impact. For some reason the upgrade failed and Ipeer decided to roll back the changes. When a rollback of this kind is performed, a series of steps needs to be taken in order to verify that no hardware or the data stored on them has been damaged.
Since there were a lot of users trying to access their services at the same time, the infrastructure was overloaded, which in turn slowed down the process of restoring services.
We at ReQtest are very sorry for what has happened and we are taking what happened very seriously.
We invest large amounts of resources every year to ensure that ReQtest is a top performer when it comes to functionality, usability, code, performance and hosting. ReQtest is hosted in a redundant environment in order to minimize the risk of failures. Unfortunately, those measures are of no value if the entire environment experiences an outage.
We will take the appropriate measures and investigate in depth in order to avoid any similar incidents in the future.
In hindsight, we have been excluded from these types of outages in the past.
The only times we have been affected has been when the circumstances absolutely would not permit otherwise. During the last 6 months we have had a 99.97% uptime, a number, which in the spirit of full disclosure we should say excludes today’s outage. Our ambition is to continue with this high availability in future as well.
Once again, we are sorry for the problems we may have caused you and hope you can sympathize with our situation. If you experience any problems, please get in touch with our support on +46 8-120 403 12 or support@reqtest.com.
